September 2015

Dear parent(s)/guardian(s),

I would like to thank the Nesbitt school community for the warm welcome I received this week. I am excited about becoming a part of this vibrant school and look forward to working with all of you this year.

The students are off to a great start. They have met their teachers and are eager to make new friends and engage in new learning opportunities.

I would also like to thank the teachers and staff of Nesbitt School for carefully planning and preparing for the arrival of our students. I would also like to extend my appreciation to our caretakers and our secretaries for assisting the Nesbitt School staff and administration in getting the school ready for the start of the new school year. Everyone’s contribution has been invaluable.

School Fees

This mandatory school fee pays for materials and supplies which your child will consume during the school year (e.g. workbook, agenda, photocopies, arts supplies, etc…).  The school fees for kindergarten are $90.00, and for Grade 1-6, are $105.00.  These fees are payable by cash or cheque and should be given to your child’s homeroom teacher in a sealed envelope.

Clearly label the envelope with your child’s name, homeroom and SCHOOL FEES.

Deadline for payment is September 11, 2015. Please make cheque payable to Nesbitt School.

Lunch Fees

Lunch supervision fees are $225.00 per child for the 2015-2016 school year.

The deadline for one annual payment is September 24th, 2015.  The deadline dates for 2 payments are September 24 and November 12, 2015.

Clearly label all envelopes with your child’s name, homeroom and indicate LUNCH FEES. Please make cheques payable to Nesbitt School.

School Agenda

The agenda is the school’s primary source of communication. In the first pages of the agenda you will find the school’s rules and regulations and other pertinent information about the school. Please read the pages with your child(ren). Page 13 and 14, highlight important information regarding behavior and expectations. We ask that you and your child sign page 14. This agreement confirms that he/she has read the rules and regulations, understands them and agrees to respect them.

Bus Transportation

Thank you for being patient while we finalize all bus accommodations. Please be aware that the school cannot authorize bus stop changes or change any existing bus routes.

All written requests will be processed by the school board as of November 1st. I also thank you for your assistance in returning unused passes which may be forwarded to other students in need.

Absences or Lates

Please call the office in the morning to notify our school secretary if your child will be absent from school. Should our voicemail be on, please leave a message.

Should your child arrive to school after 8:02, he/she must report to the main office where a late slip will be administered.

Should your child be required to take medication, the school must receive the original prescription attached to the bottle. You will also be asked to complete an authorization form which permits our school personnel to administer the prescribed medication to your child as per the doctor’s directives.

All medication must be in a sealed Ziplock bag, clearly labelled with your child’s name and homeroom.

School personnel is not permitted to administer any medication such Benadryl, eye drops, ear drops, cough syrup, etc…without a prescription.

Welcome Back Celebration

Our Nesbitt Home and School Association, in collaboration with our grade 6 students, has organized a Welcome Back celebration for Friday, September 4th, 2015.  All students will enjoy a day of fun and treats (e.g. inflatables and food truck) and will participate in variety of entertaining activities led by our Grade 6 students.

We thank our Home and School Association for their time in organizing and volunteering for such an event.  Only with the collaborative efforts of our parents, teachers, staff, students and community may such events be successful and enjoyable for all.

A special thanks to our grade 6 students for taking this great initiative to plan and lead this school wide event.

We invite parents and guardians to visit and subscribe to our website.  This would allow you to receive notification and updates as they become available.

Your input would also be greatly appreciated. Tell us what you think so together we can make our school’s website the busiest place of the EMSB!
