CHANGE IN PED. DAY

Please note that our April 11, 2016 Ped. Day has been moved April 15, 2016.

Therefore, Monday, April 11 will be a regular school day for students, whereas, there will be NO school on Friday, April 15, 2016.  Our daycare services will be available on April 15 should you require them.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

Teachers and staff enjoyed a wonderful Appreciation Week thanks to our Home and School volunteers and the administration. During the course of the week, coffee, tea, snacks, a luncheon and special treats were enjoyed by all.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude and appreciation for the teachers and staff of Nesbitt School. Our students are truly fortunate to have such dedicated individuals caring for them.

Storytelling Festival

During the months of February and March our Cycle III students have been involved in a storytelling project. With the help and support of their homeroom teachers, students have been telling their stories to their classmates and practicing for our in-school competition. On March 24, two students from each class will be selected to present their English or French story to Grade 4,5 & 6 students. Our finalists will be selected on March 24 and will represent Nesbitt School at the Regional Storytelling Festival which will be hosted by Sinclair Laird School in April.

Book Donation and Swap

In an effort to jumpstart our annual Read-A-Thon, we would like to invite all students to participate in a BOOK SWAP event scheduled for Friday, March 18, 2016.  Simply send in your gently used books the week of March 15, 2016.  All donated books will be collected and organized in the foyer area and made available for adoption on March 18.

Should you wish to donate adult novels, cookbooks, etc…you are welcomed to do so.  Additional information regarding the Read-a-thon will be distributed next week.

Field Trips

Parents are reminded to consult our monthly calendar for field trip information and confirmed dates.  Please ensure that your school fees have been paid prior to paying for any field trip.

Pink T-Shirt Day

Last month, our school participated in a Pink Shirt Day event whereby each student received a pink t-shirt paid for by the school.  In an effort to keep momentum going and ensuring that no student is bullied, students will be permitted to wear their pink t-shirt on the last school day of every month.  Our next pink t-shirt day is March 31, 2016.

School Yard and Snow Pants/Boots

Students are reminded to wear their snow pants and boots to school and during recess time.  Our schoolyard/field is still covered in snow in order to encourage our students to be active during their time outside, they must dress appropriately. Parents and students will be informed when snow pants and/or boots will no longer be required. We thank you for your support and understanding.

Renovation update

I am happy to announce that our gym repairs are complete and regular phys. ed classes have resumed.

We are presently in the process of replacing all hallway drinking fountains and sinks.  Projected date of completion for these repairs is end of March.
